Orange tip, holly blue +speckled wood butterflies plus new hawthorn blossom

Thursday April 30th 2015

After filling the bird feeders+sorting the bird food ready for next week we had an early coffee break-Rose and I had also been busy pulling out lots of alexanders in flower in and around the copse near the pond ie now added to compost bins!

Next job was checking out what we need to move urgently from the perennial bed behind nursery/learning centre-decided to dig out the daffodils we’d moved there temporarily last year-replanted them in the bed in the car park at the front of school

Rose also transplanted a honeysuckle and aquilegia plus she watered the nearby  flower pots and the newly transplanted daffodils etc +whilst I was busy doing some more weeding

Magpies and crows seen in the wildlife area plus several speckled wood butterflies and our first 2015 holly blue and orange tip butterfly seen on the grassy area between the 2 main paths

We also noticed the ornamental quince and hawthorn tree by the wildlife pond are  flowering plus the red campion is also starting to flower
