More pruning and weeding etc

Good to be back volunteer gardening at school again after last week’s half term break 👍🏻

At school by 8.15am ,signed in and headed via school to the wildlife area ,collected garden waste bags and started to tidy and prune shrubs on the planted bed by the boiler house ie above the playground

Mrs Webber joined me around 9am …we worked together until 10.30am pulling out bramble roots, pruning back willow, hawthorn and other shrubs, removing dead leaves from palm trees and pruning back a large buddleija…our green waste filled a large dumpy bag which Mrs W dragged down the steps and emptied on our compost pile by the 2 large ash trees 😇😇

We then stopped for a well earned refreshment break …afterwards we spent another 45 minutes removing alexanders from the copse by the wildlife pond plus we removed a pile of tree prunings from this copse and added them to the main compost pile by the ash trees.😓😓

Lots of lovely spring flowers seen in bloom in our school wildlife area this morning eg snowdrops, snowflakes, violets, crocus, daffodils ,winter aconites, hellebores ,primroses ,frittilaries etc plus we have frogspawn again in our wildlife pond 👍🏻

Also good to see that Mr Ball brought an early years class down into the wildlife area this morning to see all the spring flowers etc
