Watering,pruning and weeding…

Monday June 19th 2023

Warm sunny weather for our work session at school this morning ..

At school by 8.20 am …watered planted pots and planters at front of school then signed in & headed via school for wildlife area ..

Next job was more watering …this time watered all the planted pots close to the our shed …then began watering the 12 apple, plum, pear and mulberry trees on the grassy area above the playground …first time they’ve been watered this year …apart from 2 mulberry trees which have signs of fruit plus are looking extremely healthy all other trees are suffering due to lack of rain over last couple of months …

Mrs Webber arrived to help in time to assist me with watering last 4 fruit trees …gave them a full watering can full each .

NB both plum trees plus a pear tree are sprouting from their root stocks again so we need to prune that unwanted growth back next week hopefully or asap

We then headed to the front of school for a much needed weeding session …weeding ,deadheading and pruning back plants in both wooden planters plus the 4 planted beds at the front of school and also tidying the school fence line against the footpath by the front gate ..

***Still more weeding and tidy to be done on planted beds next week and against fence along public footpath

We headed back to the wildlife area with 2 very full tubs of gardening waste …had our well earned refreshment break ….emptied full dumpy bag of green waste then had walk around the wildlife area before leaving school around 12noon

NB earlier noticed walnut tree in school wildlife area also looking very healthy plus it has several small fruits growing👍🏻
